Post-Op Instructions: Dental Fillings

Cosmetic and family dentist in Woodbury, NY

A dental filling procedure may seem minor, but it’s important to know what to expect afterwards.

TIPS FOR DENTAL FILLINGS AFTERCARE

Try to avoid chewing on the numb side of your mouth to avoid biting your tongue or lip. The anesthesia should wear off in about 1-2 hours.

Don’t be concerned if the tooth with the filling is extra sensitive to cold or hot during this time. That’s to be expected and the sensation will eventually wear off.

It is normal if the gums and the anesthetic injection site are sore for several days after the procedure. However, if any of the teeth that were worked on become uncomfortable or just don’t feel right, please call the office right away at 516-921-8010.
